Company

CVD Diamond Corporation has developed proprietary technology for the production of pure diamond films.  While diamond can be used for a number of applications due to its properties, CVD Diamond Corporation has concentrated on the exploitation of its extreme hardness and wear resistance. Specifically we have focused on diamond coatings for the machining of non-ferrous, abrasive materials where tool life can be extended by at least an order of magnitude over tungsten carbide tools.

The company offers a complete line of end mills for non-ferrous machining in all popular sizes including standard and extra long lengths, as well as micro tools down to 1/64" cutting diameter. We also offer tools of different geometry from our standards as specials, as well as drills and threadmills.

CVD Diamond Corporation is located in London, Ontario, Canada, midway between Detroit and Toronto.  At this location, we have several CVD reactors and all of the necessary diagnostic equipment to ensure our tools are of the highest quality.

The company's products can be used for machining graphite, machining composites, machining carbon fiber, machining fiberglass, machining ceramics, machining G10, and machining abrasive alloys of aluminum.

History

In the early 1990's, researchers at the University of Western Ontario were able to produce pure diamond films by Chemical Vapor Deposition. Given the extreme hardness of diamond, the idea of using it as a wear resistant material was inevitable.

After studying a number of possible applications, cutting tools emerged as an application where significant technological gains could be made.

With cutting tools as a focus for the application, CVD Diamond Corporation was established in 1998 by the inventors of proprietary technology for the coating of tungsten carbide with diamond and some local investors.

Today, CVD Diamond Corporation offers a complete line of diamond coated end mills for the machining of non-ferrous materials, ranging from cutting diameters of 1/64" to 1/2". The company also offers a full line of metric sized end mills from 0.5mm to 12mm as well as diamond coated drills and threadmills.

Diamond Coating Technology

CVD Diamond Corporation uses state of the art diamond coating technology developed internally and held proprietary. Our special arrangement of a diamond-coating reactor produces the finest diamond films available on the market today. The diamond film is extremely homogeneous which results in longer life and more consistent performance. Careful selection of substrates and our proprietary preparation techniques allow excellent adhesion of the diamond film to the tool. The combination of these technologies results in the longest lasting tools available on the market today.

This technology is useful when machining graphite, carbon fiber, fiberglass, green ceramics, filled plastics, aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and G10.
